Hi Jennifer. Thanks for the positive feedback. There are a lot of opportunities for employers and gov't to cut back on fuel use and CO2 emissions. I like to see people exploring all options.

Thanks for the link. Remote offices are certainly a viable option to long commutes, especially for larger companies.

It doesn't make sense in this day of high gas prices and global warming for millions of office workers to drive through stop-and-go traffic 50-70 miles each day.

Most office workers can work remotely as long as they have support from management and adequate facilities.

Not everyone has adequate facilities at home, but this can be addressed through the use of a Remote Office facilities. Remote Office Centers lease individual offices, internet and phone systems to workers from different companies in shared centers located around the city and suburbs. The concept is fairly new, but you can find facilities in many cities by either searching the internet for "Remote Office Centers" in quotes or going to a free web site that list centers by city:

http://www.remoteofficecenters.com

The United States spends $700 billion each year importing foriegn oil. This does not include the cost of roadways and cost to the environment.

Not everyone can work remotely, but every person who does work remotely saves on all of the gas that would normally be used commuting across town every day.
