Could I hire someone to do the research for me and really pursue the possibility of getting stimulus money to rebuild our dealership and make it more
energy efficiant?

Many people bidding for some of these government funded construction projects will be left out in the cold if they do not have their OSHA training. MA and several surrounding states (NY, CT, RI, NH, and MO) have laws requiring workers on publically-funded jobsites to take the OSHA 10 hour construction training class, like the ones available at http://www.osha10hourtraining.com . Without the OSHA card, they cannot get on the site. Many general contractors also have the same requirement for minimum OSHA training. So be prepared, do not wait until the last minute.

I am thinking about starting an eco-friendly cremation/burial service/small business in the Austin, Texas area.

I do not have past experience in this industry, but researching at this time.

I’ve been inquiring with local officials, and green npo types in the San Francisco Bay area and if they know anything, they aren’t telling. I think Ms. Kaplan has it right here. Though the feds are going to use the current pipelines and the current agencies to channel the money, they really don’t have a handle on how they are going to do it……..yet.

I do have a specific green energy efficiency product that can be produced in the US and can produce many “green jobs”. Obtaining initial funding to get this project started has been driving my research. My findings, however have driven me in the direction of becoming a consultant to others. It’s not just businesses, but community organizations and small independent urban entrepreneurs that I’m concerned about getting a fair share of the stimulus pie.

Global Patriot, I’m sure your right. I know that many consultants (myself included) have been fielding calls from colleagues and clients about how they can, as you nicely put, connect with opportunities. I think its too early to tell, however, just how that can be accomplished.

The problem with a complex and comprehensive stimulus package that it can be difficult for the average citizen to know how they can take advantage of it.

I would imagine there are scores of “experts” lining up to connect businesses with opportunities, for a fee, of course.
