“Traveling Green” Contest for Earth Day

Planning a business trip on a tight carbon budget? Need an Earth Day gift for your employees?

Well, then you might be interested in a unique Earth Day marketing opportunity offered by  nextstop.com, a new travel community where users provide short recommendations of places they like, and can create guides with a theme. Nextstop has put together a contest called “Traveling Green”, and it’s open for entries until April 21 (the day before Earth Day).

The process is pretty simple and fun. Basically, it calls for creative minds to put together a guide with your favorite “green” travel destinations. The prize is a $50 VISA Gift Card for Earth Day.

Now can you possibly pass up the offer to get your creative juices flowing and line yourself up for an eco-friendly reward all at the same time?

We should be careful with notions of “eco-friendly” travel. While you might save a couple trees or kilowatts while you’re at these destinations, the environmental impact of getting there far outweighs what you might save. Consider a “stay-cation” instead. Get to know your community or your region better!

    hey jared-
you make an excellent point about travel. but the contest certainly can include recommendations for a stay-cation, which I agree is the most “eco-friendly” of all! a guide full of your favorite green things to do around your hometown would be great for the contest.

sometimes traveling is a necessary evil, though, whether it’s for business or just to get out of dodge and relax. and in that case, recommendations for places worldwide that are easier on Mama Earth are what we’re after.
