It is so nice of you to share your helpful insights regarding practical and eco-friendly office supplies. People need to understand that making a stand against climate change or global warming does not have to be elaborate. By doing our simple efforts, others will take notice and get inspired of your dedication in making a difference. Let us remember that change begins within us, and if we do want to see some results - we have to show others than we can contribute in becoming more eco-friendly at home as well as in our work place.

This is really creative list. I really like these items and they would be a great start to greening the office. We actually found a great source, kuuala.com for, 80% and 100% pc recycled content office paper and some of our other frequently purchased office/cleaning supplies. They also set us up in their green directory for free.

The list is OK, but my but I have some problems with making “contains recycled material” as the product’s primary selling proposition. In 2009, just about everything should contain re-used/recycled material if they can. 30 years ago when I was in school, I remember aluminum can drives. I would imagine most beer cans or bottles are recycled today. Should beer companies get ECO labels for 100% recycled materials? In other words, true eco products should not compromise the quality, features, or performance of products that we now use. It is like the electric car. They will be popular when they have all the features and then some on our gas vehicles today. It is already happening with autos such as Tesla and those made by BYD. With some proper effort, eVehicles will greatly surpass the features/performance of gas cars today.

I now live in China where I see them recycle everything. Probably more than I want to know! We need to get past “contains xx% recycled content”. In today’s resource strapped world (knowing that the world simply does not have enough resources for every Chinese to have a standard of living that American’s enjoy today) it is common place that materials are recycled. It is time to develop new products that actually reduce waste, or use fewer resources. And, we need to change our habits. All Chinese mothers commonly use the word “Langfei”, which means wasteful. Using everything, and not wasting anything is ingrained into Chinese society as it should be.

Now, my sales pitch… In a few weeks, I will start selling a marker pen revival tool called Markerfix. It greatly extends the life of whiteboard markers (about 2X). Through its use, it can cut marker purchases in half. I hope it can offer a contribution to reducing use of plastics and chemicals on the input side, and their unnecessary disposal on the waste side.

for companies, they usually have a computer department so all these hassles may not matter much. I think MS fails to deliver the product with the expected quality, people feel let down
