Social Entrepreneur Boot Camp in San Francisco August 21-22

“I hate this job.”  Ok, sure.  Most jobs aren’t quite this bad, perhaps, but how many people do you know who really dread going to work?  One of my favorite movies, Office Space, has a character, Peter, who laments to his therapist that every day he goes to work is worse than the day before, with the inevitable conclusion that every single day…is the new worst day of his life.

Disclaimer:  This article is an announcement for a Social Entrepreneur Boot Camp run by my company, GreenBusinessOwner.com, and by no means represents pure journalism.  However, as I believe the event moves us forward to a green economy by helping people start green businesses and thereby create green jobs, I thought it might be of interest to the Ecopreneurist audience.

Even in a down economy, according to a recent CBS news poll, less than half of workers report job satisfaction with their current job.  At the same time, interest in the green economy continues to rise, with many states and cities pouring money into green jobs training.

All of which points to the creation of a lot of green businesses by workers either laid off or tired of their current jobs.  Our upcoming social entrepreneur boot camp in San Francisco aims to help these people start, and succeed, with green startups.

The curriculum will cover everything from successful habits of entrepreneurs to marketing a green product or service to project planning and implementation.  Participants will receive a flash drive with a handful of tools for project planning, business planning, and marketing planning, as well as instructional tools for building an advisory board and creating a dynamite elevator pitch and communications strategy.

My company, GreenBusinessOwner.com, has announced a scholarship to the event, for someone with a great idea for a green business and a demonstrable financial need.  Submit these to info [at] GreenBusinessOwner.com, with the subject header “Scholarship”.  However, at $149 for the event, the boot camp shouldn’t break anyone’s budget.

The event is sponsored by GreenBusinessOwner.com, Laundry Locker, and Dr. Namrata Patel, San Francisco’s Green Dentist.  Free organic coffee will be served, and guest speakers from the green economy will cover topics in financing, administration, operations, etc., and will be available for Q&A.
