Telluride Venture Accelerator: Inspiring Innovation, Investing in Success

As the title indicates, Telluride Venture Accelerator (TVA) wants to invest in the success of your entrepreneurial endeavor. The 2013 year will be its inaugural season and you can apply to be a participant in this program through November 15, 2012.

If you’ve ever started a business, you know first-hand how difficult it is. There are a bazillion little things that come up which may have never crossed your mind. Ultimately, every entrepreneur wants to get their product to the greatest number of people, and oftentimes, it takes more expertise and resources than many individuals have. TVA offers a unique experience to just 3 lucky entrepreneurs in the fields of outdoor recreation, tourism, health, energy, water, education, and natural products.

The three businesses chosen to be a part of the TVA program will live and work in Telluride, Colorado for approximately six months. Recipients will also get a $30,000 investment, up to $8,000 to be used for travel and lodging, approximately $100,000 in perks from Microsoft, PayPal, Amazon, and more. Recipients also get free co-working space, intensive mentoring from the TVA mentor community from February through July, and (perhaps most importantly), a chance to pitch to multiple angels and venture capital funds at the end of the program.

As a part of the TVA program, approximately 30 highly successful individuals will serve as mentors to the 3 winning business owners.  For the 2013 year, many successful investors, venture capitalists, former CEOs, and entrepreneurs will lend their knowledge, expertise, and friendship to these lucky recipients. This year, Cheryl Rosner, the founder and CEO of TicketsNow and former President of Hotels.com will serve as an entrepreneur-in-residence so the TVA recipients will have nearly full-time access to her vast knowledge base.

TVA, a non-profit group supported by many individuals and foundations, is the first accelerator program focusing in areas of outdoor recreation, tourism, health, energy, water, education, and natural products. This gives entrepreneurs in these fields a unique advantage to securing investors for their businesses. All of TVA’s supporters are from the world of venture capital and private equity and they all understand the power of entrepreneurialism.

If you’re an entrepreneur waiting to take your business to the next level, go apply now! This is an extraordinarily unique opportunity for Ecopreneurs and as word spreads, it will only get more competitive to get one of the three coveted spots. Good luck!
