Tips from an Eco-Entrepreneur: Create an Escape Plan

Missed our hangout with an Eco-preneur – Becky Striepe on Google+? Never mind- we have the hangout on You Tube for all of you. 

Our first hangout with Becky Striepe (owner at Glue & Glitter and author – 40 Days of Green Smoothies) was great. Jeff McIntire Strasburg of Sustainablog joined us to chat with Becky about how she quit her corporate job to do what she loves- crafting, cooking and writing.

Some great tips that Becky gave budding eco-entrepreneurs-

  • Hatch an escape plan: You know you want to quit your job and pursue your passion, give it some thought and think about a financial backup plan to pay the bills while you are building your business.
  • D-I-Y: Becky is a big fan of learning and doing it yourself and has taught herself the many nuances of running a business. Ask your friends and family for help on the way (Becky’s sister is an accountant!)
  • Have a balanced work-life equation: It is easy to get sucked up into your startup, but Becky says she works 9-to-5 and shuts shop when her husband comes home.
