Hangout with an Ecopreneur: Karen Lee on Jan 22, 4 pm EST
We are proud to announce a new Hangout-on-Air series on Ecopreneurist called “Hangout with an Eco-preneur.” Every Tuesday we will chat with an eco or social entrepreneur who is creating an impact through a viable business. We hope these inspiring stories and lessons learned will encourage you to dream big and do good.
For our next hangout on-air on Google+, we will chat with Karen Lee, a retired Chiropractor-turned-ecopreneur.
Karen Lee started an eco handmade business on Etsy in 2008 and started writing about healthy living, green tips and green crafting tutorials on her blog Ecokaren. And to give back to the community that helped her become greener, Karen became a Captain of Team Eco Etsy and managed over 300 members who share the mission of operating environmentally responsible Etsy businesses. Then in 2012, she became a partner in an organic crafting kit company called Herban Crafts with a member from Eco Etsy. Herban Crafts exceeded its first year expectation in sales and is one of the best sellers on UnCommonGoods. With the knowledge of a business owner and a blogger, she saw the need to improve how companies are being represented in the marketplace and at the same time, to educate the consumers better about green companies. In late 2012, she co-founded a company called Green Sisterhood, a network of green content writers with combined monthly page views of over 2 million. Its mission is to change the marketplace and the consumers’ buying habits. Karen holds workshops on easy ways to live sustainably, how to manage small businesses, and was a featured speaker at Martha Stewart’s Dreamers into Doers event in how to make businesses greener to save money. Karen is a wife to an accidental recycler and a mom to two greenagers.
