Finding Like Minds 2: Artists & Athletes

In Februrary 2009 mokugift started to see traffic coming from Elle magazine France. This piqued our interest and decided to find the article. It turns out that Marion Cotillard mentioned mokugift as one of her favorite sites along with L’alliance pour la planete. We aren’t very familiar with the entertainment world, so we had to look up this name. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that Marion won the best actress Oscar in for her role in 2007’s La Vie En Rose (remake).
Being the attention deficit disorder people that we are, we decided to make it easy for successful actors, artists and athletes to reach out to their fans to inspire and empower them to plant trees. We started reaching out through our contacts and found some hip hop artists that were aware and knowledgeable about environmental concerns. Despite his busy tour schedule, lyrical hip hop legend Pharoahe Monch recently got on board with mokugift.
In 1991, Pharoahe Monch was already using environmental lyrics in the song ‘Releasing Hypnotical Gasses’
“…in 2010 every man will be
subject to global warming,…”
Hip hop has its’ roots in awareness and activism about important issues. The greatest issue facing man kind today is our environment.
We soft launched this a few weeks ago. Our official launch is today (World Environment Day, June 5th). Here is our official press release. You can plant a tree with Pharoahe Monch on mokugift here. You can also plant trees with other environmentally responsible hip hop and rock artists like Tajai Massey, Mystic, Pepper, Nina B and Omar Offendum here
