Let Me Nominate You: $100K Small Business Competition

American Express, in partnership with NBC Universal, is holding a competition to “Shine A Light” on an “inspiring” small business.

I find so many of you inspiring, I’m thinking: Could it be you?

They are looking for small businesses that are:

  • Innovative
  • Give back to the community
  • Demonstrate a “customer first” mentality.

If so, they want to hear your story and you might win a $100K grant in cash and marketing support from American Express.

Registering is easy. Once you submit a nomination, there is a social media element and you need to receive a minimum of 50 “endorsements.”

The top 150 nominated stories will be evaluated by three judges: Diane Von FurstenbergEllen Degeneres,JJ Ramberg (the host of msnbc’s new small business show, “Your Business.”) They’ll pick three finalists who will each receive a $10,000 grant. The business featured as the one winner, chosen from among the three finalists, will receive $50,000 grant and $50,000 worth of marketing support. and, the submitters of the three finalists will each receive an American Express Gift Card valued at $3,000.

Anyhow, I can’t tell you if can nominate yourself, so find someone to nominate you or if you’re interested, post a comment and we can work together on nominating you.  And if you win, the nominator gets a $3K AmEx Gift Card, which if its me, I’ll donate to the charity of our choice. Oh, the deadline is September 13th.

I’m a small business owner and also holding a full time job since my business still thriving. I like to expand my assisted living business specializing in care of dementia/alzeimer clients with my mission of providing a personalized, family-centered type of care with emphasis of providing an esthetic/calm and nurturing kind of environment to these clients in this journey where their memory is fading away and no future to look forward to except the here and now. Having limited income and not so familiar with marketing /business aspect I could not put my mission into reality. Being a nurse , the caring aspect is like a second nature to me. I love to put the care/comfort my top priority. Not sure if mine fit into the category you are looking for and the deadline is fast approaching. Sorry, I just learned to use more of the internet.
