The Importance of Small Business and Shopping Local

A handshake, friendly banter, or a favorite product. Small businesses fill our days with the things we need and help keep our communities thriving. This infographic highlights the importance of small businesses and the value of shopping small. (Graphic: Business Wire). 

For the past three years, American Express celebrated small businesses with a day dedicated to “shopping small” called Small Business Saturday®. This year, American Express is creating awareness about the importance of supporting community commerce with this infographic—a visualization created to spread the word about developing new local businesses and “shopping small” matters, as told with products from small businesses like ties from Bonobos in New York, NY, and donuts from Dutch Monkey Doughnuts in Cumming, GA.

Small Business Saturday, November 24th

Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Last year, over one hundred million people* came together to Shop Small® in their communities on Small Business Saturday®.
